The allegation that the child whose hand is kissed by Erdoğan is the son of Amir of Kuwait

CLAIM / Photograph: Erdoğan kissed the hand of Amir of Kuwait’s son.

FALSE

A photograph shared in social media claimed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan kissed the hand of Amir of Kuwait Shiekh Sabah Ahmed Cabir el Sabah’s son in his visit to Kuwait.

Erdoğan who said “We only bow before God”, with the son of Amir of Kuwait.

However, the claim is not true. The child in the photo, whose hand is kissed by Erdoğan is not the son of Amir of Kuwait. He is one of the two children giving flowers to the group.

In the video, it can be seen that the child whose hand is kissed by Erdoğan gives flowers to the Amir, too.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Kuwait on 9 May, to meet with Amir of Kuwait.

The photo taken by Kayhan Özer of Anadolu Ajansı was published with this statement: “In his visit to Kuwait, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was welcomed by Amir of Kuwait Shiekh Sabah Ahmed Cabir el Sabah with an official observance. Following the introduction of the groups, two Kuwaiti children presented flowers to Erdoğan and Amir el Sabah.”

According to the state’s official web site, 87-year-old Amir Sabah Ahmed Cabir el Sabah has three sons and a daughter. His son Nasser Al-Sabah is 69 years old, and has three sons and three daughters. Hamad Al-Sabah is the president of a holding company named KIPCO, and he has a son and three daughters. Amir’s only daughter Salwa Al-Sabah passed away in 2002 from breast cancer. Amir’s other son, Ahmad Al-Sabah lost his life in a traffic accident in 1969.
