FALSE

It was claimed on social media that a Finnish tourist was beaten in Belek, Antalya because he was mistaken to be Dutch.   With the image of a battered man which was also shared by HDP’s Van deputy Lezgin Botan on Twitter, allegations spread quickly.

Allegations are not true. After a search is made on Google images, it can be seen that the picture belongs to an incident that took place in Germany four years ago. According to the German news sites, Matthias M. was beaten while trying to help a woman who was being harassed by several men. The picture belongs to Matthias M. while being treated at the hospital.

We contacted Belek Police Station and they said no such incident had taken place and they did not receive any report.
