The local elections are just around the corner in Turkey. We are going to the polls on March 31 for the 14th time during the 17-year-old AK Party government.
In the days leading to the polls, refugees are yet again one of the most debated topics in the country.
Among false claims making the rounds in media and on the Internet are “Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees will be granted citizenship before the elections”, “Syrian refugees could influence the elections outcome in many cities and districts”, and “Syrian refugees will pose threat to the election security.”
