The photo shared by a Twitter user “TufanGunesAA” on the social media claimed that armed and masked people participated the Justice March holding banners. Besides the armed people, the photos suggested the claim that a group with banners bearing the word “Adalet (Justice)”, held posters of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Abdullah Ocalan side by side.
Terrorists are asking for justice.
You’ll pay for what you did.
The Justice March began after CHP deputy and former journalist, Enis Berberoglu, was sentenced because of the leaking information of Turkish intelligence services supplying arms to Syrian rebels to the press. Turkey’s main opposition party leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu began a march for justice from Ankara to Istanbul.
However, the photos shared by “TufanGunesAA” and claiming that armed people were in the Justice March do not reflect reality, these photos are created with photomontage.
Three of the shared photos are from Hasan Ferit Gedik’s funeral in 2013. Hasan Ferit Gedik, leftist activist was killed by drug gangs during a manifestation against state drug politics in Istanbul. It can be seen that the banners with the word “Adalet (Justice)” are inserted in the original photos.
For instance, from the photo below, it can be seen that the banner bearing “Adalet (Justice)” held by the person in Gedik’s funeral is inserted afterwards.
Similarly, it is clear that the banner with “Adalet” is inserted in the original photo. In the original photo, the left hand of the person carrying a gun in their right hand is empty, yet in the photomontage photo the same person is holding a banner.
Aside from the photos with armed and masked people from Hasan Ferit Gedik’s funeral, another photo claimed to be taken in Justice March, is from 2013. If the image with protesters holding posters of Ataturk and Abdullah Ocalan side by side is examined, it can easily be seen that the person with “Adalet (Justice)” banner is actually making a victory (V) sign in the original photo.
Weather conditions and outfits
Another point to consider in the photos is the outfits of people. Considering the weather conditions in July, it can easily be said that it wouldn’t be possible for these people to wear the jackets and coats they have on.
